François Baboulet (French 1914-2010)

François Baboulet was born on April 12, 1914 in Toulouse and died on the December 17, 2010 in Paris. Throughout his life, he exhibited his art in various galleries and institutions across France, and held several major roles in artistic bodies.

Baboulet was a student at the Superior National School of Fine Arts in Paris, and was committed the Parisian artistique life after the war. He immersed himself into the art world and became President of the group Three Dimensions, during which time he exhibited his art at the prestigious Durand Ruel gallery until 1970, a member of Societaire du Salon des Independants, Vice President of Comparisons, jury member of the Salon d’Automne, and Chairman at the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts, where he diversified the organization by exhibiting the art of Japanese artists.

Francois Baboulet was equally involved in the defense and protection of artists. He was the President of the Painting Section of the Commission of the Professionality of the Graphic and Plastic Arts, Vice President of Artist House, Vice President of the Confederation of Intellectual Workers. In 1973, he was appointed to the body official of Marine Painters.
Francois Baboulet was one of the masters of a generation of painters that embodied creativity, personality, passion, and talent, which was built by learning a solid profession, and traditions from the workshops of the Ecole des Beaux Arts to which he remained attached throughout his life.

Works: In private collections and museums; Paintings acquired by the State and the City of Paris, exhibition at the Yoshii Gallery in Paris (1998),
Isetan in Tokyo (Japan), the gallery at Seine et Saint-Placide in Paris, Laetitia Gallery in Brie-Comte -Robert, at the Clappe-Œillet gallery in Toulouse.

Decoration: Officer of the National Order of Merit and Arts and Letters, Officer of the Rising Sun (Japan).

Distinctions: Medal of vermeil of the City of Paris, Grand prize municipal of Trouville-sur-Mer
