Harry Bertschmann (b. 1931, Basel, Switzerland) is an acclaimed abstract expressionist artist known for his bold use of color and geometric forms. After moving to the United States in the 1950s, he became part of the vibrant New York art scene. Bertschmann studied at the Basel School of Design and continued his artistic exploration in America, working alongside leading figures of the Abstract Expressionist movement.
His works are characterized by dynamic compositions, often blending abstraction with emotional intensity. Bertschmann’s artistic journey spans more than six decades, during which he has exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, earning a dedicated following among collectors. In addition to his paintings, he has contributed to graphic design, typography, and corporate branding, merging fine art with commercial design in innovative ways.
A 300-page catalog of his artworks was published, capturing the breadth of his creativity and influence on modern art. Today, his works remain highly sought after by collectors, and he is celebrated for his significant impact on the evolution of contemporary art.
