Ohanness Alhazian was born in Van. He spent his childhood there until he reached sixteen. At the age of 16 he formed a passion for art and moved to Tiflis to study art from 1898 to 1903.The following year he went to Paris and studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, where he created his own style without any influences by his mentors. He permanently moved to France.
Alhazian has been known for his landscape paintings. The Country of Finland has had a great influence towards his art. He traveled to Finland many times to paint their beautiful sceneries. Throughout the years he traveled to Europe, mainly stopping in Holland, Spain, and Italy. He finally settled back in France where he painted most of his landscapes in his favorite place, the Loire Valley (Garden of France). Alhazian attracts attention towards his paintings by his strong brush strokes and well-balanced harmony of colors and light.
In 1918, the French government bought a large landscape painting by Alhazian.
He was a member of the international society of painters and sculptures in France.
