Guiragossian’s art blurs the line between figurativeness and abstraction, characterized by an interplay of forces that often invert meanings, creating a perpetual ambiguity. His works challenge traditional boundaries and transcend categorization, inviting viewers to explore the liminal space between the tangible and intangible. Through his art, concrete forms become abstract, while abstract concepts take on a tangible quality.

Guiragossian’s impact on the art world is reflected in the numerous awards he received throughout his career. In 1956, he was awarded the First Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut, Lebanon, as well as the First Prize of the “Biennial of Florence” and the Gold Medal of “The Group Exhibition of Toscan” in Florence, Italy. In 1957, he received the Gold Medal of the International Exhibitions at the “Permanente” Gallery in Florence, Italy, and in 1959, the Prize of the French Biennial.

Further recognition of Guiragossian’s artistic achievements came in 1964 when he was awarded the Prize of Fine Arts by the German Association of Arts & Culture in Germany. In 1968, he was awarded the First Prize of the Sursock Museum in Beirut, Lebanon, and in 1969, the First Prize of “Phillips” in Beirut, Lebanon. In 1970, he received the First Prize of “The National Education” in Beirut, Lebanon.

Guiragossian’s contributions to the arts were also recognized by governments and organizations. In 1974, he was knighted by the German government, and in 1984, he was knighted by the French government and made a “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” in Paris, France. In 1985, he was awarded the Prize of Fine Arts of Mardiros Sarian in Yerevan, Armenia, and in 1986, he was knighted by His Holiness Pope John Paul II as a “Chevalier de l’Ordre” of St. Silvestre in Vatican. Finally, after his passing in 1993, Guiragossian was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honour of the Cedar by the Lebanese government.
